A payout is the amount paid for a winning bet, expressed as a ratio (e.g. 5:1) or as a multiplier.

Definition
A payout is how much a game pays on a winning bet. It is expressed as a ratio (5:1 = five times the stake plus the stake back) or as a multiplier. On a game-show wheel, the "10" segment typically pays 10:1.
A single outcome's payout, combined with its probability, determines the overall RTP and house edge. It should not be confused with the actual win, which also depends on any bonus multipliers applied.
